Job summary

Weatherby Healthcare is seeking a general surgery clinician for a hospital-based assignment in Gallup, NM. The role emphasizes bread-and-butter general surgery with laparoscopic cases and required endoscopy (EGD/colonoscopy). Inpatient, consults, and ED coverage are expected, with OR cases 3–6 times per week.

The position includes paid malpractice insurance and pre-paid travel and housing expenses, with a dedicated Weatherby consultant available 24/7.

Qualifications

• Bread-and-butter general surgery with laparoscopy in ~96% of cases.
• All diagnostic endoscopies (EGD and colonoscopy) required.
• Inpatient, consults and ED coverage.
• OR cases 3–6 per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide general surgery coverage in a hospital setting.
• Perform laparoscopic procedures as required.
• Manage inpatient and ED surgical consults.
• Perform OR cases and endoscopies per schedule.

Job description

• Mon - Fri, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm with variable OR days and call rotation
• Clinic averages 5 - 10 patients per clinic day
• Inpatient, consults, and ED: 3 - 6 patients per day
• Hospital setting -- inpatient surgical coverage required
• OR cases: 3 - 6 per week
• Bread and butter general surgery -- laparoscopic cases approx. 96% of the time
• All diagnostic endoscopies including EGD and colonoscopies required
• Adults and pediatrics (ages 1 and older)
• Paid malpractice insurance; pre-paid travel and housing expenses
