Job summary

Weatherby Healthcare is seeking an experienced gastroenterologist for inpatient GI services on a travel assignment. The position requires 24-hour call shifts (5–11 per month) with a 30-minute response time and inpatient responsibilities including endoscopy and biopsy procedures. Compensation is competitive.

Travel and housing expenses are prepaid, and malpractice insurance is paid. The assignment includes leave coverage opportunities and access to Weatherby consultants.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour call coverage for inpatient gastroenterology services.
• Perform upper GI endoscopy, ERCP, colonoscopy, liver biopsy and related procedures.
• Assist with PEG placement, esophageal dilatation, small bowel biopsy and sigmoidoscopy as required.

Job description

• 24-hour call shifts -- 5 - 11 shifts per month
• Call ratio 1:3 -- 30-minute response time required
• 0 - 6 patients per shift -- rounding on assigned patients
• Inpatient gastroenterology practice setting
• Upper GI endoscopy, ERCP, colonoscopy, and liver biopsy required
• PEG, esophageal dilatation, small bowel biopsy, and sigmoidoscopy required
• Sengstaken/Blakemore tube insertion and management required
