Job summary

CompHealth is recruiting for a pathology support role in Illinois. The position features a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00–16:00, with no on-call requirements and a high-volume workload of surgical pathology cases. Histology staff assist with small biopsies; grossing of large specimens is expected.

The role includes cytology (FNA) but excludes Pap smears, bone marrow, and autopsies. Board-certified candidates are preferred; housing, travel, and malpractice coverage are arranged.

Qualifications

• Board certification required.
• Experience in anatomic and clinical pathology, cytology, peripheral smear and blood bank.
• Comfort with large specimens and grossing is required.

Responsibilities

• Work Monday–Friday, 8 am–4 pm with no call requirements.
• Handle approx. 12–15 surgical pathology cases per day.
• Cytology includes FNA; Pap smears, bone marrow and autopsies are not included.
• Assist with small biopsies using histotechnologists when available.
• Access to online portal for assignment details and time entry.
