Description
This contract-based, on-site position provides an excellent opportunity for an Associate-level PA to deliver high-quality surgical care within a dynamic clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons in a wide range of general surgery procedures, including pre-operative preparation and intra-operative support
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history reviews and physical examinations
- Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with attending surgeons
- Manage post-operative care, including wound management, patient monitoring, and complication prevention
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging studies
- Document patient encounters accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records
- Provide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures, recovery protocols, and follow-up care
- Coordinate with nursing staff and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in surgical rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions
- Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Physician's Assistant certification from an accredited program
- Active state licensure to practice as a PA in North Carolina
- Current NCCPA certification
- Associate-level experience in general surgery or a related surgical specialty
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Proficiency in surgical assisting techniques and sterile procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and patient interaction
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on-site clinical environment
- Strong documentation and EHR proficiency
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice
Schedule: 7a-5p, 4-day workweek
No call requirement
Setting: Inpatient and outpatient
Patient Volume: 15 per shift
Support Staff: RNs, MAs, APPs
EMR: Epic
Must be board-certified
BLS required
