Job summary

BAS HealthCare is seeking an experienced urgent care clinician to cover multiple Richmond, VA clinics on a locum basis with potential for permanent placement. Expect 12-hour shifts, 3 per week, across seven days of operation.

Clinics operate 8:00 AM–8:00 PM, with an all-outpatient practice. Candidates must hold a Virginia medical license, active BLS and DEA, and have at least 1 year of ED/urgent care experience.

• BLS and DEA certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provide urgent care services across multiple Richmond clinic locations.
• Perform laceration repair, I&D, splinting, casting, and orthopedic injury stabilization.
• Interpret point-of-care tests and imaging (x-ray, EKG) and document in Epic EMR.
• Manage patient flow for 12-hour shifts across 7 days a week.
• No call coverage; 100% outpatient practice setting.

Job Details:

• Provide urgent care services across multiple clinic locations in the Richmond, VA area
• Locum or Locum to Perm opportunity - 3 shifts per week until a permanent provider is hired
• Clinics operate 7 days a week, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM; shifts are 12 hours or more depending on patient flow
• Expected to see all patients who arrive during hours of operation
• Average patient volume ranges from 25 to 50 patients per day, with higher volumes approaching cold and flu season
• Patient population spans birth to end of life and can vary by clinic and day
• 100% outpatient practice setting with no call coverage required
• Perform laceration repair including simple, intermediate, and complex suturing or stapling
• Perform incision and drainage (I&D) including packing
• Perform foreign body removal and minor burn management
• Provide skin lesion care and orthopedic injury stabilization
• Perform splinting and casting, and joint reduction
• Conduct diagnostic and point-of-care testing including x-ray interpretation and EKG evaluation
• Interpret point-of-care lab results including rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, and blood glucose testing
• Perform epistaxis management including anterior nasal packing or chemical cautery for nosebleeds
• Perform cerumen impaction removal
• Provide airway support including administration of nebulizer treatments and initial emergency stabilization
• Higher acuity cases will be referred to appropriate higher level of care (ED/ER)
• Documentation via Epic EMR
• Active Virginia license required
• Active BLS and DEA required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an ED/ER, primary care, or urgent care setting required
• Clean background with no malpractice or license issues required - no exceptions
• Local candidates preferred; no travel reimbursement available
• Estimated credentialing timeframe: 60 to 90 days
