Job summary

BAS HealthCare seeks a Nurse Practitioner - Surgery specialized in Cardiothoracic to provide post-operative care and support for complex cardiac and vascular cases in Springfield, Ohio. The role includes rounding, ordering tests, and coordinating patient care in a high-demand environment.

The candidate must hold an active Ohio license, board certification in Cardiothoracic or Vascular Surgery, and ACLS/DEA.

Qualifications

• Active Ohio license is required.
• Board certification in Cardiothoracic or Vascular Surgery is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery services.
• ACLS and DEA certifications must be active.
• Background must be clean with no malpractice or license issues.
• Credentialing may take 90–120 days; temporary privileges possible with clean file.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care for all cardiothoracic and vascular patients.
• Perform emergency surgery support for cardiothoracic and vascular patients.
• Take consults and referrals from the ED, Cath Lab, and hospital providers.
• Perform vein harvesting and retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduits during heart surgery.
• Assist in surgical procedures.
• Write prescriptions and coordinate patient care.
• Rounding on inpatient adult and geriatric patients (≈20–26/day).
• Interpret and order tests as required.
• Schedule: M-F 8am–5pm with floor call/beeper 3pm–7am; Sat/Sun 24h onsite call.
• Travel reimbursements available.

Opportunity:

Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic

Job Details:

• Provide post-operative care for all types of cardiothoracic and vascular patients
• Perform emergency surgery support for cardiothoracic and vascular patients
• Take consults and referrals from the ED, Cath Lab, and all hospital providers
• Perform vein harvesting and retrieval of vascular tissues for use as a bypass conduit during heart surgery
• Assist in surgical procedures
• Write prescriptions and coordinate patient care
• Perform rounding on inpatient adult and geriatric population averaging 20-26 patients per day
• Interpret and order tests as required
• Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am-5pm with floor call/beeper coverage 3pm-7am; Saturday and Sunday 24-hour onsite and floor or OR call support
• At least 1-2 weeks of coverage per month required through 2027
• May be required to supervise or teach as needed
• Documentation completed in Epic EMR
• Active Ohio license required - providers who need to obtain licensure will not be accepted
• Board certification in Vascular Surgery required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery services required
• Active ACLS and DEA required
• Clean background with no malpractice or license issues required - no exceptions
• Estimated credentialing timeframe 90-120 days; temporary privileges potentially available within one week with quick submission and clean file
• Travel reimbursements available including airfare, lodging, rental car, and mileage at IRS rate

Compensation:

Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
