Job summary

77 consultants is seeking an Associate-level Locum Gastroenterologist to provide on-site GI care in North Carolina. The role focuses on outpatient and inpatient consultations, endoscopic procedures, and collaborative patient management.

You will perform colonoscopy and upper endoscopy, develop treatment plans, interpret tests, and participate in on-call coverage while maintaining compliant documentation and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in the applicable state for this locum assignment.
• Associate-level clinical experience in gastroenterology practice.
• Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and upper endoscopy.
• Strong diagnostic, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology consultations and evaluations.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with GI conditions.
• Interpret diagnostic tests, such as imaging, labs, and pathology reports.
• Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, and other specialists to optimize patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in compliance with legal/regulatory standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and emergency gastroenterology coverage as needed.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and preventive care.
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols within the medical practice.
• Support quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction.
