Job summary

R.J. Corman Railroad Switching is seeking safety minded Locomotive Engineers to join our team in Sasol, LA. This role involves assisting in safe daily train operations, operating equipment per policy, and coordinating yard movements.

Candidates should have Conductor or Engineer experience, be able to pass background checks and drug/physical tests, and communicate via radio with teams and customers. Outdoor environment and physical requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Must be safety minded and have basic reading and math skills.
• Must have the ability to develop teamwork and work with all levels of personnel in achieving train-handling objectives.
• Must be able to give and receive instructions over radio.
• Must have previous Conductor or Engineer experience.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check, drug test, and physical capacity test.

Responsibilities

• Assists in all phases of the safe daily operation of trains.
• Operates equipment according to company policies, procedures, and practices.
• Operates track switches, couples cars, and works on trains in yard operations.
• Moves and aligns various parts of rail equipment to create or build trains.
• Performs multiple tasks safely, requiring pulling, controlling, and maneuvering onto and off of equipment.
• Works with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars.
• Assumes increasing responsibilities, including the ability to handle Conductor duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
