Job summary

Pinsly Railroad Company is seeking a flexible locomotive professional to work as both engineer and conductor as needed. The role requires performing FRA and company checks, receiving train consists and applying terrain and signaling knowledge to operate safely.

You will read timetables, prepare reports, and coordinate with crews while ensuring compliance with railroad rules. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license, plus relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Two years of related work experience and one year of engineer experience; two years of conductor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate as locomotive engineer and conductor as needed.
• Inspect locomotive for FRA and company required checks.
• Receive train consist and verify car weights, lengths and loads.
• Apply territory knowledge to signal and operate safely.
• Conduct movement and signal crew using lantern, hand/flag, or radio.
• Observe signals and railroad indications affecting train movement.
• Operate track switches and apply/release hand brakes as needed.
• Read and understand rules, timetables, train orders, waybills and safety instructions.
• Prepare daily reports, switch lists and train orders.
• Inspect train and equipment in motion and at rest.
• Possibly couple air/electrical connections between locomotives.
• Comply with orders, signals, radio communications and railroad rules.
• Monitor track for obstructions and diagnose minor malfunctions.
• Notify authorities and prepare reports for incidents or delays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
