Job summary

Panhandle Northern Railroad, LLC in Borger, Texas seeks an Engineer/Conductor to oversee trains, freight and crew, operate switches, and ensure safe, compliant movement of railcars in yards and on mainline.

Responsibilities include applying train handling policies, communicating with dispatch, and performing required daily reports. Candidates need a High School Diploma/GED, FRA certifications, and 2–3 years of train services experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years Train Services experience.
• Aptitude in Transportation field and willingness to learn.
• Pass post-offer healthcare and operating rules exams including FRA.
• Comply with railroad instructions and regulations.
• Read, comprehend and comply with written rules and manuals.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Clear communication with team and Dispatcher.
• Demonstrate problem solving and professional integrity.
• Able to work in fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad safety rules, FRA regulations, and operating procedures.
• Move trains safely within yards and on roadways.
• Operate throttle, brake controls, and switches; monitor gauges.
• Coordinate with Trainmaster and yard crews; use signals or radio to communicate.
• Assist/train crew to couple/uncouple cars and perform minor repairs.
• Review switch lists and prepare daily reports and train orders.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and report suspicious activity.
• Follow directions from conductors and brakemen.
