Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Atlanta VA Medical Center seeks a skilled locksmith to join the Facility Maintenance Unit.

You will perform maintenance, repair, and installation of lock hardware, conduct visual inspections and tests, and support security requirements across the Atlanta VA Health Care System. Responsibilities include setting up master key systems, procuring parts, repairing locks and electronic devices, and ensuring compliance with Homeland Security and VA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Certified Registered Locksmith (CRL) certification required or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Experience with lock hardware installation, repair, and security systems.
• Ability to read instructions, specifications and perform testing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and install lock hardware as part of the Facility Maintenance Unit.
• Perform visual examinations and operational tests to determine repair needs.
• Set up master key systems (day-key, master, grand master) and manage parts procurement.
• Repair, replace and re-key locks; handle electronic locks and related devices.
• Travel to support across the Atlanta VAMC system; operate government vehicles with a valid license.
