Job summary

City of Las Vegas seeks a Locksmith I to perform a variety of skilled locksmith maintenance tasks and related technical duties within the Department of Public Safety.

The position requires at least 2 years of locksmith experience, a high school diploma or GED, formal or on-the-job locksmith training, and a valid driver’s license. Selection includes a written civil service exam and background checks.

Qualifications

• Two years of locksmith experience.
• Graduation from High School or GED.
• Formal or On-the-Job locksmith training.
• Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Installs, adjusts and repairs commercial and residential locksets on doors, safes, furniture and file cabinets.
• Issues, maintains, and tracks access to keys and card access keys; maintains and updates paper and electronic records of key access within various city computer tracking systems.
• Maintains high security institutional locking devices, including electric locks, strikes and exit devices.
