Job summary

The University of Oklahoma Facilities Management is seeking a skilled Locksmith to perform repairs and maintenance on locks, keys, card systems, and hardware across campus. Under general supervision, the locksmith will install, service, and repair locks and door hardware, cut keys, stamp with IDs, and maintain records of issued keys and work performed.

Required education includes vocational or technical locksmithing training and 12 months of experience, with 18 months of related experience

Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical School training in Locksmithing.
• 12 months experience in commercial and/or residential Locksmithing.
• Equivalency: 18 months of related experience in lieu of Vocational/Technical School.

Responsibilities

• Installs, services, and repairs various locks, locking mechanisms, and security devices.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs door hardware, weather stripping, kick plates, and various pneumatic closing fixtures.
• Disassembles locks and locking mechanisms to repair and replace worn tumblers and springs.
• Cuts new or duplicate keys and stamps with identification numbers/letters; issues keys and maintains records.
• Completes and maintains reports of work performed, parts replaced, and time spent.
• Performs duties to support site operations and assist other trades as needed.

Pay Range: Targeted rate up to $24.18 per hour, based on experience

Benefits Eligible: Yes

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On call hours may be required.

Travel: Not required

Position Introduction:

Facilities Management encourages you to apply for a Locksmith position in the department. Under general supervision installs, as a Locksmith you will perform repairs and upkeep maintenance to all locks, keys, key systems, card systems, and associated hardware in the architectural, structural elements, and furnishings on the campus.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Installs, services, and repairs various locks, locking mechanisms, and security devices.


• Installs, maintains, and repairs door hardware, weather stripping, kick plates, and various pneumatic closing fixtures.


• Disassembles locks and locking mechanisms to repair and replace worn tumblers and springs.


• Cuts new or duplicate keys and stamps with identification numbers/letters. Issues keys and maintains a record of keys issued and returned.


• Completes and maintains reports of work performed, parts replaced, and amount of time spent.


• Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of any site support position to include assisting any skilled trade.

Required Education and Experience:

• Vocational or Technical School training in the field of Locksmithing.


• 12 months experience in commercial and/or residential Locksmithing.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 18 months of related experience in lieu of Vocational or Technical School.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

• Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

Department Preferences:

• Driver's License.
