Job description

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements.

Education:

GL-09: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

GL-10: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.

OR

Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Some examples of qualifying experience include:

GL-09:
  • Experience in maintaining the armory where weapons and ammunition are stored, including rifles, carbines, stun guns, less lethal munitions, pistols, riot shotguns, gas guns, ammunition, chemical agents, riot equipment, and protective gear.
  • Experience in analyzing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic locks; locking systems; engineering blueprints; weapon repair; and schematics.
  • Experience in maintaining tel-key systems for daily and emergency use, ensuring proper issuance of institution keys and accurate documentation.
GL-10:
  • Experience in training institution staff in security to maintain high operational and structural security.
  • Experience in reading and understanding technical publications, drawings, blueprints, and schematics of buildings.
  • Experience with prison locks and locking systems, including their application within a correctional setting.
  • Experience in assessing equipment condition for repair or replacement.
  • Experience with emergency entry, riot control, chemical munitions, stun munitions, and special operations response team equipment.
OR

Combination of Education and Experience: For GL-09 only, a combination of education and experience that equips you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must specify the actual time spent in activities.
