Job summary

DATTCO is seeking a School Bus Location Manager for our Bloomfield, CT location. This leadership role oversees all aspects of a school bus location and leads a team to deliver safe, reliable transportation.

You will plan routes, coordinate operations across dispatch, drivers, safety, and maintenance, manage payroll and billing, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The role also involves hiring, onboarding, and developing the location team while building strong customer

Qualifications

• 3+ years of supervisory experience (transportation preferred).
• Some college coursework or relevant industry experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead a strong team environment.
• Excellent problem solving skills in a fast paced setting.
• Strong communication across employees and school personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Strong technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Windows and ability to learn new computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of a school bus location.
• Plan and assign routes among multiple locations, and update and maintain routes using Traversa or other routing software.
• Coordinate operations across dispatch, drivers, buses, safety, and maintenance.
• Ensure all drivers follow state and federal regulations.
• Manage parent app through Power School to enable parent and student bus tracking.
• Prepare and manage the location billing.
• Monitor and control labor and operating expenses.
• Process and maintain payroll records.
• Oversee monthly billing and all monies due into the location, including petty cash.
• Coordinate the review of dispatch sheets with driver daily time.
• Ensure facility is safe and operational.
• Hire, interview, and onboard new employees.
• Review driver bids and assign routes and charters.
• Handle conflicts and administer progressive discipline.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
• Oversee training program at location to ensure success and steady workforce growth.
• Respond to school department, parent, and student concerns.
• Initiate corrective actions to resolve service issues.
• Answer routine phone, mail, and inquiry requests.
