Job summary

Austin Powder Company in New Hampshire seeks a capable operations leader to recruit, train, and manage safety and efficiency in an industrial explosives environment.

You will oversee budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with the sales team to meet customer requirements while maintaining high safety standards and compliance. Experience in supervisory roles and a strong work ethic are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; relevant work experience may substitute for some educational requirements.
  • Experience leading and supervising a team, including training, individual and team development, performance management and coaching.
  • Supervisory experience in an industrial or construction environment with responsibility for compliance with safety, environmental, inventory, maintenance and other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and hire employees, orient and train them for success in their positions.
  • Conduct job-oriented training and mentoring to support employee efficiency and success.
  • Communicate work assignments and outcome expectations with feedback and accountability.
  • Encourage and nurture employee growth and development into higher levels of responsibility.
  • Participate in the investigation of accidents and/or employee relations and safety incidents and provide corrective action as appropriate.
  • Adhere to and oversee site security standards and housekeeping guidelines.
  • Conduct and/or provide all required safety, health and task training for all location personnel.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly safety audits and observations; maintain a safe work environment.
  • Accountable for the condition and maintenance of property, facilities, fixed and mobile equipment.
  • Provide vigilant security for inventory assets and ensure accountability.
  • Anticipate product needs and manage orders and deliveries to maintain inventory levels.
  • Administer the electronic recordkeeping of inventory movements and usage to meet federal requirements.
  • Manage the location’s annual operating budget and monthly expenses.
  • Project capital expenditures for fixed facilities and mobile equipment.
  • Track and report metal/non-metal and coal production hours to the Department of Labor/MSHA.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and schedule work teams, vehicles, and products to meet customer expectations.
  • Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate customer and community concerns to appropriate company personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Experience in the explosives industry is ideal, including product delivery and down‑hole blasting operations.
  • Clean work, legal and driving history that satisfies ATF background check scrutiny.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and cooperative, pleasant demeanor.
Work Environment

This position may require working outside in all weather conditions in a hands‑on environment. The role requires the ability to walk, stand, sit, use hands to operate controls, and work with tools, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and the ability to talk and hear.
