Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Localization Engineer to provide engineering services on complex localization projects. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, roughly 5 years of experience, and proficiency in various localization tools and programming languages. Provides comprehensive engineering and technical services on large and/or complex projects to analyze and prepare files, ensuring efficient and high-quality translations and implementation in the customer’s environment. Applies advanced technical expertise to maximize quality and profitability on complex projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience with Json, Resx, Vtt, HTML, XML (various types from different systems), Madcap Flare, Dita, Articulate, mp4, Captivate, etc.
  • Preferred experience with CAT/TMS tools (Wordbee, SDL Trados Studio, MemoQ, Memsource/Phrase, XTM, etc.)
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (Tridion, ST4)
  • Experience troubleshooting localization and translation projects throughout their lifecycle
  • Performing and managing localization engineering tasks
  • Converting formats to translatable forms and back into original formats
  • Experience with parsers and scripting
  • Guiding project teams and external engineers on application conversion steps, communicating clearly
  • Resolving tag issues in translated files
  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python, C++, C#)
  • Suggesting process automation and new tools
  • Updating configuration/settings in TMS/CAT tools based on process updates
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Managing multiple projects effectively
  • Understanding of languages and cultural nuances
  • Localization engineering certification (preferred)

Technical Expertise: Utilizes localization engineering technical and professional knowledge, skills, and judgment to achieve results.

Education & Experience Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with approximately 5 years of relevant experience, providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
