This position reports to:

Category Manager - Regional Transportation

The Local Trade Compliance Officer & Product Classification Engineer is responsible for local import/export operations and strategic planning, supervising the performance of customs brokers. This role ensures smooth execution of operational trade and customs activities within a local unit, including relevant documentation and compliance with regulations.

Work model: #LI-Remote. Applicants must be located on the East Coast of the US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classify ABB products, software, and technology for export control (dual-use/military) and customs (HS codes) compliance.
  • Manage preferential and non-preferential origin calculations for global trade activities.
  • Monitor daily import/export shipments and coordinate with customs brokers to ensure smooth clearance.
  • Apply relevant customs procedures and trade regimens (e.g., TIB, Duty Drawback); ensure accurate declarations.
  • Audit customs brokers for accuracy in entries, invoicing, and recordkeeping; maintain compliant customs archives.
  • Handle required documentation and systems (e.g., SAP GTS) for efficient and lawful import/export operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in Trade & Logistics, including classification and import/export experience
  • Prior work experience in global logistics within a global company
  • Skilled in data analysis, logistics, customer satisfaction, supplier relationship management, and supply chain management
  • Knowledge of governance, import/export control, and customs rules and regulations

While base salary depends on qualifications and experience, this position offers between $79,800 and $148,200 annually.
