Local Quality Control Technician (Finance)
United Companies, a CRH Company, is seeking a Quality Control Technician - Canon City. Our department is growing, and we are hiring both entry-level and experienced candidates.
The technician is responsible for collecting and analyzing quality data for aggregate, concrete, and asphalt production, including sampling and testing materials to ensure compliance with specifications. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, problem solvers, team players, and committed to continuous improvement.
This is a non-exempt position with pay ranging from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Sample and test aggregate, asphalt, and concrete in the field and laboratory.
- Determine physical characteristics using prescribed standards for statistical process control and compliance.
- Maintain and report test data accurately.
- Report non-conformance issues to management following the Quality Control Plan.
- Investigate and analyze quality, production, and technical issues, recommending corrective actions.
- Assist sales with quality-related customer inquiries and site visits.
- Maintain laboratory facilities, including cleaning and calibration.
- Perform general maintenance and clean-up duties.
- Travel to job sites for testing as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in math, MS Office, reading, and writing.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical ability to stand, walk on uneven terrain, and lift up to 50 lbs (or with assistance for heavier loads).
- Flexible working hours including weekends and overtime.
- Certification in ACI and/or LabCAT or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Schedule:
- 8-12 hour shifts depending on workload.
- Monday to Friday with overtime and weekend availability.
Work Requirements:
- Must be 18+ years old.
- Willing to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and shifts as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and dress code.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Full range of motion, manual dexterity, and ability to operate tools.
- Ability to work at heights, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Normal vision and hearing required; ability to work under stress.
