Quality Control Technician - Canon City

Our Quality Control Department is expanding! We are hiring both entry-level and experienced Quality Control Technicians. The technician is responsible for collecting and analyzing quality data for aggregate, concrete, and asphalt. Tasks include sampling and testing materials to ensure compliance with specifications. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, problem solvers, team players, and committed to continuous improvement, with a proactive attitude.

This is a non-exempt position. Pay ranges from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

1. Sample and conduct field and laboratory tests on aggregate, asphalt, and concrete.
2. Use standards to assess physical characteristics for process control and compliance.
3. Maintain and report test data accurately.
4. Report non-conformance issues to management per Quality Control Plan.
5. Investigate and analyze quality issues, recommending corrective actions.
6. Assist sales with quality-related customer inquiries and site visits.
7. Maintain laboratory facilities, including calibration and cleaning.
8. Perform general maintenance duties.
9. Travel to job sites to test materials as needed.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in math, MS Office, reading, and writing.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to stand for long periods and walk on uneven terrain.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; assistance required for over 50 lbs.
• Flexible working hours, including Saturdays and overtime.
• ACI and/or LabCAT certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Schedule:

• 8-12 hour shifts, Monday to Friday.
• Overtime and weekend work as needed.

Work Requirements:

• Must be 18 or older.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must pass physical, drug, and background checks.
• Willing to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and shifts.
• Adherence to safety procedures is mandatory.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

• Full body motion, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Standing, bending, reaching, crawling, climbing, and lifting up to 90 lbs.
• Working at heights and in stressful conditions.
• This is a safety-sensitive role.
