Job summary

Nordex Group is seeking a Local Operations Manager to lead the safe, efficient, and financially successful operation of a service area for wind farms. You will manage Service Technicians and Lead Technicians, drive operational excellence, and ensure readiness for new sites and transitions.

The role requires strong leadership, finance acumen, and experience in wind energy, with collaboration across cross-functional teams and customers to meet contractual commitments and improve performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4-year university degree or engineering qualification preferred.
• Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering qualifications preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in wind energy or related industry.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership, supervisory, workforce planning, or operational management experience.

• Lead readiness activities for new service contracts and wind farm transitions.
• Support operational planning, scheduling, and prioritization of service activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Local Operations Manager directly supports Nordex’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the Local Operations Manager, you will lead the safe, efficient, and financially successful operation of an assigned service area. This role is responsible for managing Service Technicians and Lead Technicians, driving operational excellence, ensuring strong HSE performance, supporting customer satisfaction, and overseeing local financial and operational performance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead local service operations while promoting a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
• Manage and develop Service Technicians and Lead Technicians through hiring, onboarding, coaching, training, and performance management.
• Ensure operational readiness for new wind farm sites and facilitate smooth project handovers from construction to operations.
• Drive HSE compliance and proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.
• Manage local financial performance, including P&L responsibility, operational budgets, CAPEX expenditures, invoice approvals, and KPI management.
• Partner with customers to ensure contractual commitments are met and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Monitor site performance and implement improvement plans to optimize operational results.
• Coordinate resource planning, workforce capacity, equipment, and tooling requirements.
• Lead operational readiness activities for new service contracts and wind farm transitions.
• Support operational planning, scheduling, and prioritization of service activities.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and leadership visits to ensure compliance and performance standards are maintained.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT YOU HAVE

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4-year university degree, engineering degree, vocational qualification, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Formal qualifications in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Business management qualifications or leadership experience highly desirable.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in wind energy or a related industry.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership, supervisory, workforce planning, or operational management experience.
• Experience leading remote or field-based teams preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of operational and financial performance metrics.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Experience with workforce planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and operational scheduling.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business systems.
• Knowledge of wind turbine systems and service operations preferred.
• Ability to work at heights and travel regularly as business needs require.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport for domestic and international travel.
• Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
• Driving is an essential function. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
