Job summary

Jobtailor in Beaumont, TX seeks an energetic journalist to report breaking news, local developments, and key community issues. You will attend meetings, events, and public forums, write quickly and clearly across digital and print, and balance daily production with longer-term reporting.

You will build a broad network of sources, develop relationships beyond official spokespeople, generate original story ideas, and produce enterprise stories that go beyond the daily headline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field required.
• Newsroom reporting experience with strong news writing skills
• Familiarity with AP style
• Strong reporting, interviewing, and newsgathering skills
• Sound news judgment
• Ability to work effectively under deadline
• Curiosity and initiative
• Genuine interest in local communities
• Comfort with digital storytelling and audience-focused journalism
• Willingness to spend significant time outside the newsroom building relationships, attending community events, and finding stories where people live and work
