Job summary

Hearst Newspapers is seeking a Digital Reporter to cover multiple Texas markets from Beaumont, Laredo, Midland, or Plainview. The role is hybrid, requiring rapid framing of stories for digital platforms and attention to SEO and audience growth.

You will write 3–5 stories daily, report quickly with accuracy, and use analytics to guide coverage while coordinating with editors and the development team. The successful candidate will have a journalism degree, solid AP style writing, and familiarity

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field required.
Understanding of audience engagement metrics is preferred.
News writing experience and familiarity with AP style required.

Responsibilities

Pitch and write 3 to 5 stories a day based on what's trending in local market(s).
Report quickly, clearly and accurately and deliver news via stories, video, newsletters, social media platforms or other methods.
Identify top news stories of the day based on analytics and audience potential.
Recognize and act on breaking news for assigned markets and coordinate with Hearst newspapers regionally.
Collaborate with editors and the Hearst development team to experiment with new ways of finding and engaging audiences.
