Job summary

JK Moving Services is seeking an experienced driver to join our team in Sterling, Virginia. You will transport household goods using tractor-trailer combos, maintain logs, and ensure deliveries meet our quality standards.

As a crew leader, you will supervise on-site teams, coordinate with dispatch and customer service, and help keep every shipment accurate and on schedule while upholding safety and compliance with FMCSA requirements.

Qualifications

• Active Class B CDL license.
• Minimum 1+ year of experience driving with a commercial license.
• Must pass a DOT physical, background investigation, and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Drive a tractor-trailer transporting household goods from origin to destination.
• Inspect the truck for defects before and after trips and submit a report.
• Maintain a clean, safe operating condition of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain driver log according to FMCSA regulations.
• Adhere to safety, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
• Manage on-site crews to ensure efficient service and delivery to clients.
• Act as liaison with customer service reps, dispatch, and warehouse staff.
• Secure signatures, collect payment, and reconcile discrepancies on paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Drive a tractor-trailer combination transporting and delivering household goods and furniture from origin to destination.
• Inspect the truck for defects before and after trips and submit a report indicating truck condition.
• Maintain a clean, safe operating condition of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain driver log according to FMCSA regulations.
• Adhere to all safety, OSHA, and DOT regulations in accordance with the company's safety program and initiatives.
• Manage on-site crews to ensure efficient and effective service and delivery to clients and homeowners.
• Actively participate in moving materials, equipment, furniture, household goods, and manage packing and crating of valuables and hard-to-move items.
• Maintain a tool kit for the installation, assembly and breakdown of furniture, cubicles, or other items for transport.
• Act as liaison with customer service reps, dispatch, and warehouse staff to meet the company's obligations to the client.
• Ensure accurate and complete transactions on all paperwork; secure signatures, collect payment, and reconcile discrepancies.
• Submit paperwork to dispatchers to validate crew man-hours and report any incidents.

Qualifications

• Active Class B CDL license.
• Prior moving & storage or furniture delivery experience a plus.
• Experience as a crew leader or supervisor a plus.
• Must pass a DOT physical, background investigation, and pre-employment drug screening.
• Minimum 1+ year of experience driving with a commercial license.
• Good communication skills and capable of lifting 75+ lbs.
