Job summary

Van Meter Inc. seeks a Local Construction Coordinator to support the job site in the Eastern Iowa market. You will coordinate materials, receive items at the jobsite, and act as the liaison between Van Meter sales, operations and contractors, ensuring safety and efficiency.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to adapt to changing priorities, and collaboration with internal teams. Occasional out-of-state travel is involved.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Previous distribution center experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to operate lift truck equipment.
  • Extended shifts may be required to complete tasks.
  • Stand/walk for long periods.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
  • Knowledge of Eclipse preferred.
  • RF scanner knowledge a plus.
  • Forklift operating experience required.
  • Minimum 2 year commitment required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety policies and initiatives.
  • Complete returns for parts from the jobsite.
  • Maintain jobsite inventory.
  • Process parts requests through ordering, receiving and shipping.
  • Inspect products and store at the jobsite.
  • Coordinate with Inside Sales and Purchasing.
  • Serve as main contact between Van Meter and jobsite personnel.
  • Build relationships with site staff.
  • Set up and relocate fabrication stations/areas.
  • Deliver, unload, and stage materials on the jobsite.
  • Handle deliveries and arrivals.
  • Travel to customer job sites as needed.

Job description

Summary

The Local Construction Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by facilitating the needs of the customer’s job site in the Eastern Iowa market. This includes, but is not limited to ordering material, receiving material at jobsite, providing material coordination and agile construction practices to the jobsite. This individual is an important liaison between Van Meter sales, operations, and targeted contractors in the field. This person exemplifies all safe work practices. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives
  • Complete returns for parts from the jobsite
  • Maintain jobsite inventory
  • Complete parts requests through ordering, receiving and shipping
  • Conduct product inspection, and storage at the jobsite
  • Flexible and adaptable to change priorities on short notice
  • Work closely with Inside Sales and Purchasing
  • Provide customer service and support as main contact between Van Meter and specific jobsite personnel
  • Build relationships with site personnel
  • Set up and relocate fabrication stations/areas
  • Clean, stock and remove excess material from work areas
  • Deliver parts to needed areas of jobsite
  • Receive and distribute deliveries as needed
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly
  • Deliver, unload, and stage materials on jobsite as needed
  • Extended out of state travel to customer job sites
