Job description

Summary:

The Lean Construction Coordinator for Interstates plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of being our customers’ competitive advantage by facilitating the needs of the customer’s job site. This includes, but is not limited to ordering material, receiving material at the jobsite, providing material coordination and agile construction practices to the jobsite. This individual is an important liaison between Van Meter sales, operations, and Interstates in the field. This person exemplifies all safe work practices. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to be our customer’s competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives
  • Complete returns for parts and tools from the jobsite
  • Maintain jobsite inventory
  • Complete parts and tools requests through ordering, receiving and shipping
  • Conduct product and tool cleaning, inspection, and storage at the jobsite
  • Work closely with Inside Sales and Purchasing
  • Provide customer service and support as main contact between Van Meter and Interstates
  • Set up and relocate fabrication stations/areas
  • Clean, stock and remove excess material from work areas
  • Deliver parts and tools to needed areas of jobsite
  • Receive and distribute deliveries as needed
  • Keep Connex and laydown yard clean and orderly
  • Clean, charge and/or fuel lifts and generators
  • General jobsite housekeeping
  • Assemble lights and other assemblies before installation
  • Take part in keeping office and break trailers clean and orderly
  • Responsibly manage expense associated with travel and working in the field
  • General help with crew members when needed

Job Requirements/Specifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Previous distribution center experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. on a consistent basis
  • Ability to operate lift truck equipment
  • Ability to work an extended shift to complete work tasks as needed
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Knowledge of Eclipse preferred
  • Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus
  • Forklift operating experience required
  • Deployment to jobsites throughout the United States for extended periods of time
  • Minimum 2 year commitment required

  • Consistently standing, walking, lifting, and working indoors
  • Frequently carrying, pushing, bending at the waist, twisting upper body, reaching, working with hands and fingers, vision acuity near and far, depth perception, field of vision, vision adjustment, color vision, team lifting, working with others, cold, heat, and temperature changes
  • Sometimes sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, driving, works alone, non-standard work shift, extended day, humid, noise, works outdoors, and mechanical hazards
  • Occasionally crawling, customer contact, wet, vibration, confined area, high places, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation
