Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation is hiring a CDL Operator to perform skilled operation of highway maintenance equipment near Centre County. This full-time role offers a stable schedule and supports work-life balance, with hours from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

You will operate trucks and loaders, assist mechanics, and conduct routine maintenance while adhering to safety standards and Traffic control duties.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, and other assigned machinery for maintenance needs
• Handle both motorized and manual tools to complete tasks such as clearing brush and repairing barriers
• Follow proper procedures to maintain a safe environment for yourself, coworkers, and the public
• Perform daily pre and post operation inspections and document findings accurately
• Assist mechanics with repairs and conduct basic cleaning and servicing of equipment
• Carry out flagger duties to manage and direct traffic when required
