Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a local CDL-A driver to join our transportation team in Tar Heel, NC. You will operate late model Freightliner tractors pulling 53’ reefer trailers, maintain safety, and ensure accurate, on-time deliveries to plants and distribution centers.

Schedules are Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday with home daily. Expect 1,800–2,000 miles per week, no-touch freight, detention pay after 2 hours, and a full benefits package including 401(k), medical, dental, vision, and

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license with at least 1 year of tractor-trailer or reefer experience.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be 21+ years old and able to pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate a CMV in compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIRs daily.
• Transport loads per dispatch instructions with proper load security.
• Maintain Hours of Service (HOS) logs and report incidents promptly.
• Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
