Job summary

Root River Hardwoods, Inc in Preston, MN is seeking a CDL-A/B Driver for local routes with full-time hours and paid training. You will transport hardwood lumber, millwork, and related materials, loading and unloading as needed while maintaining safety and documentation.

Responsibilities include driving safely under DOT rules, coordinating with dispatch, and supporting warehouse and yard tasks when not driving. CDL and DOT certs are required; forklift experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
• Clean driving record and insurance requirements.
• Forklift experience preferred or willingness to become certified.
• Experience hauling building materials or lumber preferred.
• Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles in accordance with all DOT, FMCSA, and company regulations.
• Deliver and pick up lumber, millwork products, and other materials on scheduled routes.
• Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Inspect, verify, and secure all loads to ensure safe transport and prevent damage.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Complete bills of lading, delivery tickets, inspection reports, mileage logs, and other required documentation.
• Communicate delivery schedules, delays, and customer concerns with dispatch and management.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service during deliveries and pickups.
• Assist with shipping, receiving, inventory, warehouse organization, and yard operations as needed.
• Maintain clean trucks, trailers, and work areas.
• Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
