Job summary

Salt City Trucking is seeking a CDL-A Local Container Driver on a daily-home schedule. Earn $80,000–$88,000 per year hauling containers on a dedicated local intermodal account, with a $5,000 signing bonus. Daily runs to Chicago and back, with additional local work around Fort Wayne.

Expect a day shift with a mix of drop-and-hook and live loading, automatic trucks, slip-seat operation, and home time every day.

Qualifications

• 3 months of truck driving experience or more.
• Hazmat endorsement required within 60 days of hire; reimbursement provided after endorsement added to license.
• Valid DOT Medical Card must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Report to Fort Wayne yard daily for dispatch and truck assignment.
• Run to Chicago and back each day.
• Complete local work within 100 miles of Fort Wayne as needed.
• Transport containers to customers and return them to the rail yard.
• Day shift: 60% drop-and-hook, 40% live load/unload; Night shift: 80% drop-and-hook, 20% live load/unload.

CDL-A Local Container Driver – Good Pay + $5K Bonus | Home Daily

Earn $80,000–$88,000 per year hauling containers on a dedicated local intermodal account. Run to Chicago and back daily, complete additional local work around Fort Wayne, and enjoy home time every day.

Pay Details

• Average Weekly Pay: Approximately $1,600–$1,700
• Hiring Bonus: $5,000
• Customer Live Load/Unload: $56
• Customer Drop/Hook: $28
• Out-of-Route Empty Move/Crosstown Drop: $15
• Rail Delay Pay: $15/hour after 1 hour
• Detention Pay: $15/hour after 1.5 hours
• Hazmat Load Pay: $25 per load

Job Details

• Report to the Fort Wayne yard daily for dispatch and truck assignment
• Run to Chicago and back each day
• Complete local work within a 100-mile radius of Fort Wayne as needed
• Transport containers to customers and return them to the rail yard
• Day shift freight mix: approximately 60% drop-and-hook and 40% live load/unload
• Night shift freight mix: approximately 80% drop-and-hook and 20% live load/unload
• Trucks remain at the account when drivers are off duty
• Slip-seat operation with automatic trucks only

• Typical shift length: 11 hours
• Home Daily

Job Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL
• Minimum 3 months of truck driving experience
• Valid DOT Medical Card
• No SAP drivers
• Hazmat endorsement required within 60 days of hire; reimbursement provided after the endorsement is added to the license
• Ability to operate safely and legally at all times
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Riders are not permitted
