Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to coordinate the Loaner Instrument program and prepare instrumentation for sterilization for next day cases. You will update the instrument inventory system, communicate with vendors and OR leadership, and ensure timely delivery and compliance with IFUs and contract terms.

Qualifications

• 0 to 1 years’ experience in a Sterile Processing setting/Technician.
• Certification from HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM), CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) or other nationally recognized certifying body required.

Responsibilities

• Review schedule, identify needed instruments, and contact vendors to ensure instruments are delivered within stated timeframes.
• Cleans, assembles, and prepares instrumentation for sterilization prior to next day’s cases, ensuring IFUs are available for instruments.
• Creates Loaner report detailing needed loaned instrumentation and sends it to surgical services leadership and coordinators by 5PM the day before surgery.
• Updates inventory management system for all incoming/outgoing instrumentation.
• Works with SPD and OR managers to identify needs and bottlenecks pertaining to instrumentation and implants where IUSS or patient safety is evident.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
