Position Overview:
The Loan Processing Team Lead serves as the primary point-of-contact for customer service and interdepartmental inquiries within the branch. The Loan Processing Team Lead handles a pipeline, manages the branch pipeline, and assists with reviewing preapprovals that appear to lack strong financial backing. The role builds the processing team and processes from contract to close.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review loan documentation for accuracy and make updates as needed, including but not limited to reviewing documentation in the LOS for credit approval, updating conditions as needed, and determining what additional documents are needed.
  • Oversee all aspects of the processing team including employee development, coaching, training, and discipline. Assists with hiring and termination decisions.
  • Analyze data provided to determine the best suited loan product to meet the client’s desired needs and find the optimal structure to meet the specific qualification needs (i.e. payoff of debt, structuring of MI, adding additional layers to strengthen borrower profile).
  • Review all documentation provided to ensure full qualification and pre-underwrite of the loan based on the borrower’s financing request.
  • Upon completion of the review, issue complete findings in summary, including income calculations, debt to income ratios, detailed notes about borrower profile, required contingencies and future needs for processing.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, private investor requirements, and company policies and procedures.
  • Establish and manage target accounts to meet operational goals and growth objectives.
  • Provide high quality service to all customers internally and externally.
  • Audit current procedures to monitor efficiency of the office.
  • Adhere to operating budget guidelines regarding all revenue and expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Attend all branch/team meetings.
  • Perform other administrative functions as needed.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of 4 years of processing or underwriting experience in the retail mortgage lending industry
  • Non-QM Experience, preferred.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with Encompass.
  • Working knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA and State Bond eligibility guidelines.
  • Advance loan processing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills to identify solutions and methods to achieve client needs.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Pay Range:

  • Annual Salary:$70,000.00 - $80,000.00
  • This position is bonus plan eligible.

The posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
