Job summary

First Northern Bank of Dixon is seeking a Loan Operations Assistant Manager to oversee mortgage, consumer, and commercial loan processing, servicing, accounting, and reporting. You’ll lead the Loan Operations team, monitor workflows, and work with multiple departments to ensure accurate, timely operations in a compliant environment.

The role emphasizes staff development, system and process improvements, and delivering exceptional internal and external service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years of loan operations experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Working knowledge of consumer, mortgage, commercial loan products and servicing.
• Experience with FIS, LaserPro, OnBase, and Abrigo preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising, coaching, and developing loan operations staff and foster accountability.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and staff development.
• Establish and monitor workflows, service standards, and departmental procedures.
• Coordinate loan servicing functions: payments, payoffs, escrow, disbursements, balancing.
• Assist with loan boarding and verification to ensure accuracy and controls.
• Guide specialized loan processes including non-accrual loans and charge-offs.
• Support system updates, testing, and implementation of process enhancements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and document procedures.
• Promote a positive, service-oriented culture aligned with values.
• Perform daily operations and provide coverage to meet objectives.

The Loan Operations Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of the Loan Operations department, including mortgage, consumer, and commercial loan portfolios. This role assists with ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant loan processing, servicing, accounting, and reporting while providing a high level of internal and external customer service. The Assistant Manager serves as a working leader, supporting staff development, monitoring workflow efficiency, assisting with system and process improvements, and partnering with departments across the organization to achieve operational goals.

Responsibilities Include

• Assist in supervising, coaching, and developing Loan Operations staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development activities.
• Help establish and monitor workflows, service standards, and departmental procedures to promote operational effectiveness.
• Coordinate and review loan servicing functions, including payment processing, payoffs, escrow administration, disbursements, and balancing activities.
• Assist with loan boarding and verification processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to established controls and separation of duties.
• Help provide guidance for specialized loan processes, including non-accrual loans, charge-offs, and OREO accounts.
• Support system updates, testing efforts, and implementation of process and software enhancements.
• Assist with identifying opportunities for process improvement and documenting and maintaining operational procedures.
• Promote a positive, service-oriented culture aligned with organizational values.
• Perform daily operational duties and provide coverage as needed to support departmental objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• Minimum of 8 years of loan operations experience required with at least 3 years being in a supervisory level role required.
• Working knowledge of consumer, mortgage, commercial loan products and servicing.
• Strong understanding of loan operations procedures, controls, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with FIS, LaserPro, OnBase, and Abrigo preferred.
