Job summary

New York Life Investments seeks a portfolio risk and loan management professional to proactively manage a portfolio of commercial mortgage loans, analyze financial statements and rent rolls, and monitor credit and market risk. You will coordinate with origination, legal, and senior leadership on loan modifications and related documentation.

The role emphasizes borrower relationships, process improvements, and accurate data in internal systems to support timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in real estate, finance, economics, accounting or related with an investment concentration.
• Interest in commercial real estate and capital markets, including debt structures like revolvers and senior loans.
• Experience with Argus or Excel-based financial modeling.
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities; capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage a portfolio of commercial mortgage loans by analyzing financial statements and rent rolls.
• Identify potential credit or market risks and assess compliance with loan covenants.
• Respond to borrower requests including lease approvals, reserve disbursements, ownership transfers, and other updates.
• Identify and track watchlist loans; prepare updates for portfolio review meetings.
• Partner with origination, legal, and senior leadership on loan modifications.
• Foster and maintain positive borrower relationships and drive process improvements.
• Maintain accurate loan data across internal systems for timely reporting.

What You'll Do:

• Proactively manage a portfolio of commercial mortgage loans by analyzing financial statements and rent rolls to identify potential credit or market risks and assess compliance with loan covenants,
• Respond to borrower requests including lease approvals, reserve disbursements, ownership transfers, insurance claims, easements, guaranty releases, or collateral substitutions,
• Identify and track watchlist loans, preparing updates and analysis for regular portfolio review meetings,
• Partner with origination, legal, and senior leadership teams on loan modifications and document changes,
• Foster and maintain positive borrower relationships,
• Support initiatives aimed at enhancing process and operational efficiency, and
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date loan data across internal systems to support timely and reliable reporting.

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in real estate, finance, economics, accounting, or a related business discipline with an investment concentration,
• Demonstrated interest in commercial real estate and capital markets, with an understanding of debt structures including revolvers, senior loans, mezzanine financing, and securitized products,
• Experience with Argus or Excel-based financial modeling,
• Excellent analytical and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Pay Transparency

• Salary Range: $75,000-$106,500
• Overtime eligible: Exempt
• Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
• Sales bonus eligible: No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
