Job summary

Canfor Graham, NC is hiring a Loader Operator to join a hands-on, safety-focused manufacturing team at our Graham sawmill. You will load/unload logs, support daily production goals, and perform basic maintenance tasks while working Monday-Friday.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of industrial experience, can lift up to 50 pounds, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with good communication skills. Training provided, opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in an industrial environment operating heavy-duty equipment.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
• Capable of sitting and/or standing for the entire shift (8-12 hours) and climbing in and out of machinery without assistance.
• Frequently able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, with exposure to dust, vibration, and high noise levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A high degree of urgency and attention to detail.
• Desire to learn, grow, and succeed.
• Knowledge of the wood manufacturing industry and machine operator/maintenance experience are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload logs as directed, ensuring production expectations are met.
• Remove logs from the kick out bin daily with the knuckle-boom loader.
• Ensure painted and oversized logs are taken to the metal yard, while others are placed back on the log deck.
• Perform daily cleanup duties around the metal log field and kick out bin.
• Fill in at the Scalehouse as needed, handling various scale functions and log loading/unloading.
• Perform or assist with weekly preventative maintenance on machinery and complete daily check sheets.
• Adhere to all safety rules and procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and promoting safe work practices.
