Job summary

Canfor- in Graham, NC is seeking a Loader Operator to join our sawmill team. You will load and unload logs, move logs with a knuckle-boom loader, and assist with daily maintenance and safety procedures.

The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, with exposure to outdoor conditions and demanding production schedules. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in manufacturing with heavy equipment, strong safety focus, and good communication.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in an industrial environment operating heavy-duty equipment.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
• Capable of sitting and/or standing for the entire shift (8-12 hours) and climbing in and out of machinery without assistance.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload logs as directed, ensuring production expectations are met.
• Remove logs from the kick out bin daily with the knuckle-boom loader.
• Ensure painted and oversized logs are taken to the metal yard, while others are placed back on the log deck.
• Perform daily cleanup duties around the metal log field and kick out bin.
• Fill in at the Scalehouse as needed, handling various scale functions and log loading/unloading.
• Perform or assist with weekly preventative maintenance on machinery and complete daily check sheets.
• Adhere to all safety rules and procedures, using PPE and promoting safe work practices.

This role is a permanent full-time position working Monday-Friday.

What you will do as a Loader Operator:

Experience and skills that will help you stand out:

• Capable of sitting and/or standing for the entire shift (8-12 hours) and climbing in and out of machinery without assistance.
• Frequently able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, with exposure to dust, vibration, and high noise levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A high degree of urgency and attention to detail.
• Desire to learn, grow, and succeed.
• Knowledge of the wood manufacturing industry and machine operator/maintenance experience are considered an asset.
