Job summary

GCC in Storm Lake, IA seeks a reliable plant maintenance laborer/loader to receive, store and load raw materials, and to assist with startup and batching for daily production.

You will operate a front-end loader, perform routine maintenance, and keep the yard and equipment clean. You will also assist the plant manager and dispatch with communications and ensure equipment is properly greased and serviced.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver License required.
• Experience operating a loader is required.
• Experience with general plant maintenance tasks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, store, and load raw materials according to batch operator specs.
• Prepare equipment for plant startup each morning.
• Observe incoming materials to ensure specifications are met.
• Operate a loader to unload materials and place in storage bins.
• Keep plant site neat and clean; wash equipment and grounds as needed.
• Assist plant manager with batching and other duties; assist dispatch with driver communications.
• Ensure equipment is greased and oil levels checked; maintain cleanliness of plant and equipment.

Job description

What you will do:

Responsible for ensuring raw materials are properly received, stored, and loaded for production. Also responsible for performing routine maintenance on plant equipment and ensuring that the yard area is properly maintained and organized.

• Retrieves appropriate material with front end loader according to specifications given by the batch operator and loads material in the proper bin for processing.
• Prepares equipment for plant startup each morning.
• Observe incoming raw materials to ensure required specifications are met.
• Operates from end loader to unload raw materials and place in proper storage bins.
• Keep equipment and plant site neat and clean at all times; wash outside of the plant and equipment whenever necessary; maintain plant grounds; pick up trash, etc. from grounds; make sure all equipment is in its proper place.
• Assist plant manager in batching and other duties as necessary.
• Assist plant manager and dispatch in truck/driver communications.
• Ensure that the concrete plant and related equipment is operating properly at all times; inspect the plant for greasing and check oil fluid levels; grease and oil as required; keep plant and equipment clean and free of excess material; ensure all material handling equipment is working.

Experience and abilities you will need:

• High School or equivalent
• Valid Driver License
• Must have experience and training in operating a loader.
• Must have at least one year of experience as a plant maintenance laborer.
• Experience with general or routine maintenance tasks
• Ability to safely operate a front-end loader.
