Job summary

ForestSource in Graham, NC is hiring a Loader Operator to join a dynamic woods manufacturing team. This permanent, full-time role operates Monday-Friday, with physical tasks in a fast-paced mill, and a focus on safety, reliability, and teamwork.

You will load/unload logs, move them with a knuckle-boom loader, manage yard logistics, and assist with scalehouse duties, maintenance, and daily safety checks.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of manufacturing experience in an industrial setting.
• Ability to work 8–12 hours shifts on foot.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong safety compliance and record of reliability.
• Good communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload logs to meet production targets.
• Remove logs from the kick out bin daily with the knuckle-boom loader.
• Move logs to the metal yard or log deck as directed.
• Perform daily cleanup around the log field and kick out bin.
• Assist at the Scalehouse with various scale functions and log loading/unloading.
• Perform or assist with weekly preventative maintenance and complete daily check sheets.
• Follow all safety rules and wear PPE, promoting safe work practices.

What you will do as a Loader Operator:

• Load and unload logs as directed, ensuring production expectations are met.
• Remove logs from the kick out bin daily with the knuckle-boom loader.
• Ensure painted and oversized logs are taken to the metal yard, while others are placed back on the log deck.
• Perform daily cleanup duties around the metal log field and kick out bin.
• Fill in at the Scalehouse as needed, handling various scale functions and log loading/unloading.
• Perform or assist with weekly preventative maintenance on machinery and complete daily check sheets.
• Adhere to all safety rules and procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and promoting safe work practices.

Experience and skills that will help you stand out:

• 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in an industrial environment operating heavy-duty equipment.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
• Capable of sitting and/or standing for the entire shift (8-12 hours) and climbing in and out of machinery without assistance.
• Frequently able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, with exposure to dust, vibration, and high noise levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A high degree of urgency and attention to detail.
• Desire to learn, grow, and succeed.
• Knowledge of the wood manufacturing industry and machine operator/maintenance experience are considered an asset.
