Job summary

Texas Materials is seeking a Loader Operator to support asphalt plant production. You will operate a front-end loader, maintain stockpiles, monitor material quality, and assist with plant operations while adhering to OSHA/MSHA safety standards.

Position Overview

The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment to support daily asphalt plant production. This role ensures proper handling of raw materials, maintains stockpile organization, and assists with overall plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a front‑end loader to move, load and supply aggregate materials to bins and hoppers.
  • Maintain organized and properly managed stockpiles.
  • Monitor material quality and report inconsistencies to plant personnel.
  • Perform basic equipment checks and routine maintenance (fueling, cleaning, inspections).
  • Assist with general plant upkeep and support other production tasks as needed.
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with plant operators, truck drivers, and other crew members to ensure smooth production flow.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
  • 2 years of previous related experience in the construction field.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Previous knowledge of heavy equipment required.
Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass pre‑employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls.
  • Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn.
  • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud but is typically moderate.
