Starting at $24/hour
Job Description
- Operate excavator using foot and hand controls and sometimes maneuver them in tight spaces
- Enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet off the ground
- Routinely inspect safety equipment, lights, horns, and cooling equipment before starting vehicle
- Load trucks to maximize the use of space and distribute weight accordingly, and to ensure safety on the road
- Fuel heavy equipment
- Lubricate and grease heavy equipment such as articulated loaders and backhoes
- Inspect tires for wear and proper inflation
- Visually inspect vehicles for mechanical defects and report findings to appropriate personnel
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service
- Lift arms above shoulder level (e.g., enter the cab of a vehicle, use a steam cleaner)
- Climb ladders or steps to reach objects
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions in English
- Work cooperatively with other employees and the public
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
