Description

The Freight Handler is responsible for receiving inbound freight, loading and unloading trucks, selecting and moving product boxes between storage areas and loading areas in the warehouse according to customer orders, as well as preparing items for shipment and loading outbound freight onto tractor trailers. Responsibilities include assembling, addressing, shipping goods, receiving and verifying incoming merchandise, and coordinating transportation of products.

Responsibilities

1. Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material needs.
2. Operate forklift safely to move product boxes from storage to loading areas.
3. Move freight and materials using hand tools or equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.
4. Prepare products for shipment following company policies and regulations.
5. Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
6. Attach tags or mark pallets and boxes with identifying information.
7. Stack cargo on pallets or in designated locations.
8. Record handled units using work tickets or production sheets.
9. Install protective devices to secure cargo during transport.
10. Position boxes and pallets for loading.
11. Maintain storage areas to protect inventory.
12. Clean and organize equipment and work areas.
13. Ensure safety and security by following equipment policies and procedures.
14. Lift and move products safely and efficiently to meet delivery schedules.
15. Exert physical effort to lift or carry objects as needed.
16. Follow oral or written instructions to complete work assignments.
17. Work effectively using basic English language skills.
