Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Devens, MA is hiring a Loader/Forklift Operator on 2nd or 3rd shift. You will operate a sit-down forklift in a high-volume shipping bay to load/unload trucks and prep units for delivery.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years forklift experience, valid driver’s license, and ability to read English. Overtime and weekend shifts are scheduled; benefits start Day 1. Apply to join a non-union plant.

Pay: $21.76 an hour to start.

Hiring On 2nd & 3rd Shift

• 2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 1 pm - 9 pm
• 3rd Shift, Monday - Friday, 9 pm - 5 am

Overtime: Must be flexible to work daily and/or weekend (Saturday). Overtime is paid at time and ½ for over 40 hours worked. We work Monday through Friday with mandatory Overtime as scheduled.

Opportunity summary

• As Loader in our busy shipping bay, you will be responsible for operating industrial forklift to track load and/or unload trucks for delivering the units to customers according to their requirements.
• You will also keep accurate tally of what is shipped to customers.
• We are a high-volume manufacturing plant and you will be part of a team that loads up to 25 trailers a day.
• You will also be responsibleforallactivitiesassociatedwithsafelyoperatingtheforklift inadditiontoparticipatingin cross training efforts and sharing duties with other drivers.

• Inspect forklift daily at the start of the shift ensuring all safety features are operational. Complete checklist documenting inspection.
• Safely track and move materials throughout the facility safely and efficiently

• Assureallmaterialsshippedandwarehousearehandledinamannerthatpreventsdamage
• Loadandunloadtrucks according to department standards and customer demands.

• Timelyandaccuratecompletionofpaperworkassociatedwiththemovementofproduct& materials.
• Responsibleforgeneralcleanlinessofthewarehouseandloadingdocks.
• Performregularinventoryandcyclecounts.
• Safelychangeforkliftpropanetanksand/orbatteriesasneeded.

Whatyouneedto Succeed

• HighSchooldiplomaorG.E.D.
• Musthaveavalid driver’slicense.
• Minimum 2 years of experience operating a forklift (sit down forklift)
• Previous experience in a high volume high speed environment preferred
• Forkliftdrivercertification validduringthelast12months ispreferred, but we will teach you.
• Knowledgeofmachineryandhowtoidentifyissuesandtroubleshootequipmentpreferred.
• AbilitytolearnproprietarysoftwareprogramsfortheCorrugatedManufacturingsystems.
• Must have ability to the basic ability to read and write in English.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, comprehend simple instructions, follow maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Musthaveabilitytoperformbasicarithmeticdealingwithdecimals,fractions,rations,etc.
• Abilitytoreadatapemeasure.
• Abilitytocommunicateeffectivelytoallemployeesandtocustomers,both verballyandin writing
• Mustbeabletomaintaingood attendance.
• Mustbeavailabletoworkovertimeandweekends or other shifts.
• Physicaldemandwillincludetheabilitytositforcontinuoushours,stand,walk,bend, kneel, navigate stairs though the entire shift and drive in reverse.
