Job summary

Monarch Steel Company of Alabama, Inc. is seeking a Load Planner to optimize freight movements, maximize equipment utilization, and ensure on-time customer shipments. You will work with drivers, brokers, and operations to plan, dispatch, and monitor loads while maintaining profitability and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in load planning or dispatch, knowledge of DOT regulations, and strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in load planning, dispatching, freight brokerage, or transportation operations.
• Experience in flatbed trucking preferred; van/refrigerated also acceptable.
• Strong knowledge of freight markets, rates, capacity, and lane pricing.
• Experience planning truck schedules and dispatching drivers.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and dispatch loads to company drivers and owner-operators.
• Optimize routes and assignments to maximize revenue and reduce empty miles.
• Coordinate pickups and deliveries with customers, shippers, and receivers.
• Monitor freight movements and resolve service issues or equipment challenges.
• Ensure DOT compliance, Hours of Service, and company policies.
• Maintain records of loads, rates, assignments, and metrics.
