Job summary

Orion Solutions Group partners with a growing transportation and logistics company to hire a Load Planner & Dispatcher. You will play a critical role in keeping freight moving, supporting professional drivers, and ensuring customers receive dependable service through effective route planning and real-time decision making.

This second-shift, on-site role offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and PTO, plus a 401(k) with company matching.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in dispatch, load planning, fleet management, or transportation operations.
• Experience using Samsara ELD and/or Trimble TruckMate TMS.
• Prior driver management or driver support experience.
• Working knowledge of Hazmat transportation requirements.
• Proven ability to rapidly adjust routes and load plans to changing conditions.
• Strong understanding of DOT regulations and Hours of Service compliance.

Responsibilities

• Build and adjust routes based on customer requirements, appointments, driver availability, equipment, and Hours of Service regulations.
• Dispatch loads and coordinate pickups, deliveries, and scheduling changes with CDL drivers.
• Monitor active shipments and proactively resolve service disruptions.
• Serve as a primary point of contact and support resource for assigned drivers.
• Communicate shipment status updates, delays, and revised schedules to customers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with dispatch and planning teams to manage changing priorities and shift handoffs.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate load, route, and driver data within transportation systems.
