You will operate handheld barcode devices, read work orders, and ensure accurate materials handling while maintaining safety standards. Forklift certification and basic math skills are required.

Job Details

Job Location: UMATILLA, OR 97882, Salary Range: $21.00 - $22.00, SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must be able to use hand held bar-coding units and know and understand all functions required in the bar-coding process.
• Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or pallets to be moved or pulled for shipment.
• Loads and unloads materials onto or from tractor trailers.
• Loads pallets onto truck and inspects strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Verifies materials loaded or unloaded against work order or bill of lading.
• Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
• Makes partial racks when necessary to complete shipping order.
• Organizes and randomly inspects inventory on yard.
• Operates industrial truck or electric hoist safely and accurately to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• Must be able to train and mentor lower level loaders.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
