Job summary

NextDecade in Houston is seeking a Cost Analyst to support cost management of EPC projects related to LNG facilities. The typical project cost range is from $100 million to over $10 billion, and the role covers estimating, budgeting, tracking, forecasting, and reporting.

You will develop budgets, manage costs, perform variance analysis, and prepare monthly cost reports. Strong Excel, ERP (SAP/Oracle), and analytics skills are required; PowerBi is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 10+ years of cost management experience on major Oil & Gas, Power, or LNG projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, cost control, change management, earned value, forecasting, budgeting, and project controls.
• Ability to lead budgets, cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, progress measurement, and performance analysis.
• Administer cost control systems including cost coding, tracking commitments/actuals, and reviewing contractor invoices.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, with strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• ERP systems knowledge such as SAP or Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Convert estimates into control budgets.
• Develop and manage detailed project budgets.
• Evaluate scope changes and change orders.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and analyze performance metrics.
• Administer cost codes and track commitments, actuals, and accruals.
• Generate reports including earned value and cash flow.
• Reforecast project costs using trend analysis.
• Identify adverse cost and performance trends and recommend actions.
• Review vendor and contractor invoices.
• Support EPC estimates development.
• Perform contingency analysis based on risk registers.
• Develop project cash flow for cash calls.
• Prepare formal cost management reports.
