Job summary

The Penn Libraries at the University of Pennsylvania seeks a Director of LMS Administration to lead Canvas operations, data integrations, and vendor risk across the university, ensuring scalable and compliant learning environments.

You will manage a small team within the Libraries' technology organization and partner with CETLI to advance teaching and learning technology, overseeing platform roadmaps and tool evaluations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in educational technology or enterprise learning systems.
• Experience administering an enterprise LMS, preferably Canvas, in a higher education setting.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating cross-functional work.
• Knowledge of privacy, accessibility, security, and compliance for online learning.
• Ability to evaluate and manage third-party learning tools and integrations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of the courseware team and services for faculty and students.
• Administer Canvas environment, including accounts, permissions, and data loading.
• Develop platform roadmaps with governance bodies and evaluate new tools and AI capabilities.
• Chair the Courseware Advisory committee and communicate changes to stakeholders.
• Ensure policy compliance around privacy, academic integrity, and accessibility.
• Stay current with emerging opportunities and risks in instructional technology.
• Manage vendor relationships for LMS services and renewals.
