Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Compiler Backend Engineer to design, implement, and productize advanced backend compiler optimizations for Apple Silicon GPUs. You will drive LLVM-based code generation and collaborate with hardware and software teams.

This role spans prototyping through production shipping, tackling performance challenges, and shipping GPU binaries that power graphics, gaming, and ML workloads across devices.

Qualifications

  • Experience with modern C++ programming; BS with 5+ years experience, MS or PhD in computer science or related field.
  • Strong background in compiler backend technologies (LLVM preferred).
  • Knowledge of GPU architectures and how they differ from CPU architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and productize backend compiler optimizations for Apple Silicon GPUs.
  • Collaborate across hardware and software teams to resolve performance challenges and drive optimizations to completion.
  • Work on an LLVM-based backend that generates optimized GPU binaries for graphics and compute workloads across devices.
