Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a Data Scientist with LLM/ML expertise to join the Community Support Data Science team. In this role you'll partner with the tech lead to tackle high-impact projects that shape AI-powered products, differentiated service experiences, and operational optimization.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of industry experience, a Master’s degree or PhD, strong Python and SQL skills, and the ability to translate complex findings into clear narratives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant industry experience (data/ML scientist, tech lead, etc.)
• State-of-the-art knowledge of AI/ML models
• Strong fluency in Python/R and SQL; causal inference a plus
• Proven ability to communicate clearly to audiences of varying technical levels
• Ability to translate complex findings into compelling narratives that drive impact
• Excellent project management, communication, and collaboration skills
• Product-oriented mindset with user-centric thinking

Responsibilities

• Partner with tech lead to tackle high-impact projects in AI-powered products and services
• Scale high-quality synthetic datasets for training and evaluating LLMs
• Build ML/LLM models to understand customer issues and identify failure modes
• Develop personalization models to optimize experiences and business impact
• Disseminate findings to leaders and stakeholders to drive data-driven decisions
