One Hope United is seeking a Living Room PRN Engagement Specialist in Springfield, IL. The role supports the Crisis Care service team, engaging individuals in crisis, providing direct crisis response, and linking to community resources to promote crisis stability.

The position requires flexibility to cover evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, working with a team including mobile crisis staff, and adhering to HIPAA and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma / GED; CRSS/CPRS preferred.
  • Experience: Peer engagement/home visiting; lived experience.
  • Other: Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with OHU insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Provides 24/7 crisis intervention during assigned shifts.
  • Response to crisis is on-site at Living Room location.
  • Work outside regular hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Engage, advocate, support individuals and families in crisis.
  • Coordinate referrals to community resources and services.
  • Document interactions per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintain professional relationships with partners and agencies.

Living Room PRN Engagement Specialist

Under the assigned supervisor, the Engagement Specialist works as a team member to support the Crisis Care service team and individuals in crisis inside the Living Room Location. The Engagement Specialist will provide crisis response service with a crisis case manager or other mobile crisis responder. The Engagement Specialist will engage, advocate for, support, and maintain a direct working relationship with individuals and families during crises, including follow-up and community linkage to support crisis stability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides Crisis Intervention Services within scheduled shift. Program operates 24/7/365, so schedules include evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Response to crisis will occur in person on the site of the Living Room Program location
  • Must be able and willing to work outside of regular office hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Works PRN hours based on program needs
  • Requires demonstrated ability to work constructively with clients, other providers and the community.
  • Requires knowledge of community resources for referral purposes.
  • Requires understanding and ability to put into practice the Mental Health Code and Confidentiality Act.
  • Requires understanding and ability to put into practice applicable agency policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to engage and work effectively with individuals involved in mental health crisis, substance abuse crisis, or other identified community crisis.
  • Position responds to clients in crisis in the community with a team approach, which includes a mobile crisis case manager or counselor
  • Works cooperatively with other agencies, community partners (local law enforcement, hospitals, schools, etc). Must be able to interact professionally with court personnel, therapists, medical personnel law enforcement, and all other professionals that may be encountered.
  • Works jointly with other disciplines to arrange services beyond the scope of practice for the engagement specialist.
  • Completes all necessary tasks in adherence to program timelines
  • Provides client information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines to other agencies or healthcare providers to coordinate services to identified clients.
  • Adheres to the mandated reporting act.
  • Must be able to observe and submit accurate written documentation regarding any interaction providing service.
  • Must be responsible, organized, personable, and be able to work independently.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Must be able to identify and communicate any concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Must be able to participate in other meetings and staffing as appropriate and requested.
  • Must be able and willing to transport individuals (adults and children) while following program safety guidelines.
  • Must be reliable and flexible to the program needs.
  • Must be able and willing to attend and successfully complete any required and/or requested One Hope United or funder trainings.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able and willing to drive daily for work-related purposes.
  • Must have a general working knowledge of and respect for diverse cultural norms.
  • Testifies in court when subpoenaed or as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Teaches and provides resources to link individuals to community resources (e.g., medical counseling, applying for housing, energy assistance, WIC, food stamps, substance abuse providers, etc.) as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma / GED. · CRSS/CPRS, preferred
  • Experience: Peer engagement/home visiting experience desired. · Lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance abuse services. · Preferred 3 years post lived experience. Funder-preferred
  • Other: Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record with OHU-required levels of auto insurance coverage. · Community resource experience preferred.
Required Skills
  • Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and verbally communicate in a clear manner.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups or individuals.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidentiality.
